The district officer role is a hands-on role that supports the care and management of natural and agricultural landscapes in the Riverland district.

Working as part of a team you’ll help deliver practical, on-ground activities such as pest plant and animal control, by engaging with landholders and key stakeholders.

We will provide you with the training and development needed to help you grow into the role, making this a great opportunity to build a strong foundation in landscape management.

 

Who you are & What you’ll do

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • An interest or experience in environment, agriculture or natural resource management.
  • Willingness to learn, develop new skills and work outdoors in a field-based role.
  • Positive communication skills and confidence engaging with landholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving approach and practical mindset.
  • Basic computer skills and openness to learning new systems and tools.
  • Support delivery of on-ground works, activities and minor projects.
  • Contribute to pest, weed and land management programs.
  • Assist with monitoring, reporting and compliance activities.
  • Build knowledge of relevant legislation and local landscapes.

What you’ll need:

  • A current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
  • A current minimum class C driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4WD is required (Training can be provided to the successful applicant).
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in natural resources management, park management, environmental science, agricultural science or equivalent is desirable, but not essential.
  • Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check (all positions) and South Australian Working With Children Check (if applicable).
  • Eligibility for this position requires a valid Australian working visa.

Additional details:

Remuneration: Classification OPS3  $71,589 min - $76,033 max p.a 

Term contract: up to 30 June 2027

Future opportunities: Contract extensions may be available. This recruitment process may be used to fill vacancies and establish a merit list for future opportunities for up to twelve months.
