About the Role:

Help us to manage some of the most precious and valuable water resources in the driest state in the driest inhabited continent.

This water supports regional communities, critical environment assets such as Ramsar wetlands and threatened species, First Nations culture, significant industries, and even the critical human water needs of a capital city!

Who you are & What you’ll do

We’re looking for someone who has:

• The ability to take different types of water‑related information and explain it in a clear, practical way.
• An understanding of relevant legislation and policy (or the motivation to build this knowledge).
• Strong relationship‑building skills, including working respectfully with landholders, government partners, stakeholders and First Nations communities.
• Good written communication skills for preparing briefings, policy notes and community‑focused information.
• Confidence planning and contributing to projects, including those with multiple moving parts.
• A collaborative approach, you enjoy being part of a small team.
• A solutions mindset when challenges come up.
• The ability to balance priorities in a busy environment.
• An interest in surface water and groundwater management—knowledge of the Murray–Darling Basin is a bonus.
• Willingness to help run community events or workshops.
• Experience with GIS tools is helpful but not essential.

What you’ll need:

• Tertiary qualification in hydrogeology, environmental science, natural resources management, public policy or related field is desirable.
• A current First Aid Certificate is desirable
• A current minimum class C driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4WD is required.
• Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and South Australian Working With Children Check.
• Eligibility for this position requires a valid Australian working visa.

Additional Details:

Remuneration: Classification ASO6 $102,171 min - $108,071 max p.a 

Term contract: 12-month contract

Future opportunities: This recruitment process may be used to fill vacancies and establish a merit list for future opportunities up to twelve months.
