The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Manager (Logistics and Monitoring - Fruit Fly) to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

In this role, you will lead state-wide biosecurity operations, including fruit fly monitoring and quarantine bin programs, while ensuring alignment with national protocols and international certification requirements. You will drive strategy, lead high-performing teams, and deliver systems that manage key plant pest risks and support South Australia’s trade and market access.

How You’ll Make a Difference

In this role you will:

  • Manage South Australia’s fruit fly monitoring and quarantine bin programs
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Plant Biosecurity Operations & Fruit Fly Response Program monitoring teams
  • Ensure effective systems and processes are in place to maintain program performance and protect economic activity
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across government, industry, and community
  • Deliver program outcomes including performance targets, budgets, resource management, and emergency response capability

You have:

  • Proven ability to lead complex, state-wide programs and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working across government and industry
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, performance targets, and operational systems
  • Ability to translate policy and national protocols into effective operational delivery
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, staff development, and safe work practices

Special Conditions

Requirements

  • Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

Remuneration

ASO5 - $89,007 min - $98,991 max per annum, plus superannuation
