About the role The EALD and Aboriginal Languages Unit, within the Curriculum Directorate of Curriculum and Learning Division, supports EALD learners to accelerate their English language development through three key programs: the EALD General Support Program, the Intensive English Language Program, and the EALD Hub Project. In addition, the unit manages a range of administrative services, including applications for Bilingual Student Support Officer (BSSO) hours and Geographic Isolation funding. The EALD Program Manager oversees all programs and regularly collaborates across the department including Finance and Funding, Strategic Analysis and Reporting, and Support and Inclusion. The role provides high-level strategic advice on policy review and development in response to migration themes. This work aligns with relevant curriculum, wellbeing, and pedagogical frameworks, ensuring that teachers and leaders are supported to empower EALD students to learn and thrive. Qualifications Essential: A tertiary qualification in a related education field. Desirable: A post-graduate qualification in related fields of education, particularly in relation to EALD. Special conditions The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
