About the Opportunity

The WHS Inspector - Mining engages and connects with workers and employers across South Australian mining and quarrying sector, ensuring that mines are safe, fair and productive workplaces. While all hazards will be within your scope, a main focus of the role is to assist workplaces with improved safety outcomes relating to the principal mining hazards. The selected candidate will apply their knowledge and experience when they use their legislated powers in both a reactive and proactive setting to assist in ensuring that South Australian mines achieve and maintain the highest standards of workplace and public safety and standards. You will conduct proactive campaigns, react to various notifiable incidents, and assist investigation of serious matters within the industry. 

About the Business

SafeWork SA (SWSA) is responsible for providing work, health and safety, public safety and state-based industrial relations services across South Australia. As a regulator, Investigators and Inspectors ensure work, health and safety, and public safety standards are met and appropriate action is taken when breaches of laws are detected.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
