The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Fruit Fly Monitoring - Metro Plant Health Inspector to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

In this role, you will support South Australia’s valuable horticultural industries by ensuring pests of economic concern such as fruit fly are monitored and eradicated, helping maintain access to both domestic and overseas markets and uphold South Australia’s claims for Area Freedom.

You will play an active role in the field by ensuring the state’s network of fruit fly traps are maintained in accordance with PIRSA’s policies and procedures, accurately recording results, and assist in the eradication of fruit fly outbreaks alongside experienced plant health teams.

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • 2-year opportunity.
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations

Remuneration

OPS2 - $64,194 min - $67,154 max per annum, plus superannuation
