The History Trust of South Australia receives the majority of its annual funding through State Appropriation but relies on generating additional income to fully deliver its strategic objectives, fulfil long-term obligations, and ensure a sustainable financial future. To strengthen this capability, the Head of Commercial and Partnerships is a newly established leadership role designed to expand the Trust’s capacity for growth, resilience, and innovation.

The Head of Commercial and Partnerships will play a central role in positioning the History Trust of South Australia as a dynamic, enterprising, and future-focused institution, where commercial success and public purpose work hand in hand to preserve, celebrate, and activate South Australia’s history.

Success in this role requires a balance of entrepreneurial vision and disciplined stewardship, supported by a deep understanding of the History Trust’s broad stakeholder network and the statutory responsibilities outlined in the History Trust of South Australia Act 1981.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Commercial and Partnerships will drive new revenue initiatives, cultivate philanthropic and corporate partnerships, embed commercial thinking across the organisation, and represent the Trust in key meetings and collaborations. Over time, this position will also develop and lead a high-performing team that contributes directly to the Trust’s cultural, educational, and economic outcomes for the state.

The Opportunity:  

The Head of Commercial and Partnerships is responsible for establishing and leading the History Trust’s commercial and partnership functions and develops diverse, sustainable revenue streams and strategic collaborations that strengthen the organisation’s financial capacity and public impact.

Special Conditions:

  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • Regular weekend work will be required.
  • Engagement in this role is subject to a satisfactory Department of Human Services
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Intrastate and interstate travel may be required, and a current driver’s licence is required.

Remuneration:

ASO8 $125,649 - $130,392 per annum (1.0 FTE), + superannuation (12%) and leave loading

Employment Period:               

12-month contract (with potential for extension)
