The Supreme and District Courts of South Australia invite
applications from motivated and experienced administrative
professionals to join the Higher Courts Judicial Assistant
recruitment pool.
As a Higher Courts Judicial Assistant, you deliver high-level
administrative support to a judicial officer, both in and out of
the courtroom. You are adept at managing competing priorities and
navigating dynamic workloads. Your strong communication skills and
keen attention to detail are well established. As a valued member
of the team, you actively contribute to maintaining a positive and
supportive workplace culture.
Applicants who are successful at interview will be placed in a
recruitment pool for a period of 12 months. As positions become
available, candidates may be offered a contract as a Supreme or
District Court Judicial Assistant.
Judicial Assistants are employed by the Courts Administration
Authority (CAA) and report to the Principal Registrar, Higher
Courts, through the Managers in the Supreme and District
Courts.
What you will do:
- provide professional, confidential and high level
administrative support to assist Supreme and District Court
judiciary in the execution of their role;
- play a supporting role in the production and coordination
of timely and accurate correspondence, judgments and court
documents whilst ensuring efficient records management
processes are followed;
- liaise with the judiciary, legal profession, litigants,
witnesses, court staff and the general public to ensure the
effective and efficient processing of court and chamber
matters;
- providing in-court support to a Judge in a range of
hearings, including jury trials and sentencing, across the
criminal, civil, appellate and environment, resources and
development jurisdictions.
What we are looking for:
- demonstrated experience and proven competence in high level
secretarial and administrative services support.
- well-developed communication skills, with the ability to
write clearly and concisely, with a high level of attention to
detail and proof-reading skills.
- strong time management and organisational skills.
- motivation and a flexible approach whilst dealing with high
volumes of work and competing priorities.
- confidentiality, discretion and tact suitable for dealing
with sensitive court material.
- personal maturity, resilience, confidence and an
appropriate demeanour to perform functions in court.
- proven ability to effectively build positive relationships
with team members and court users through effective
communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- an ability to use a variety of IT software and hardware, in
a dynamic environment.
Special Conditions:
- This is a long term contract for up to 12 months, with
possibility for extension.
- Appointment is under the Courts Administration Act
1993. Terms and conditions of employment are
governed by the Public Sector Act 2009 (SA).
- As a justice agency, the CAA may receive details of spent
convictions as part of any Criminal History Screening and use
this information in the selection process.
- Appointment is dependent upon a current National Police
Certificate that the CAA finds satisfactory.
- Some out of hours work will be required and may extend
beyond normal office hours.
- You may be required to undertake work related intra or
interstate travel, which may require driving a motor vehicle
and overnight absences. Travel to attend country circuits may
be necessary and will require overnight absences for up to one
month with capacity to return to Adelaide on weekends.
Notes:

District Courts.
- The Supreme and District Courts handle matters and material

ASO3 ($71,589 to 76,033 per
annum plus Super)
