About the Role:

The Manager Surface Water is accountable for strategic leadership and day-to-day management of a large team of scientific and technical staff that provides expert hydrological information and advice to inform the State’s strategic priorities in regard to water resource policy development and water resource management. This includes the establishment of strategic relationships, business plans and work priorities for the Surface Water team and the communication of expert scientific advice and analysis to stakeholders including, but not limited to, other SA Government agencies. The Manager is a key member of the Water Science and Monitoring Branch leadership team.

Contract: 
Ongoing Contract.

Essential Criteria (including qualifications):

  • A university degree in Science, Natural Resources Management, Engineering or related discipline is essential.
  • Post-graduate qualification and/or extensive relevant experience in surface water hydrology or related discipline.

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
  • You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.
  • May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel, occasional overnight absences, and work outside of the normal hours of work.

A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the Department for Environment and Water will be required to have an original photo identification document sighted and provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued within the last 12 months. This information must be supplied by all applicants who are shortlisted for interview.

Remuneration: 
PO5 $136,746 min - $149,562 max p.a.
