Contribute to the development, review and implementation of the Published Collecting Plan within the Collections Policy framework, supporting the Manager Published Collections and considering the full lifecycle cost of collection management. This role ensures collections are strategically developed, sustainably managed, and aligned with organisational priorities. Provide leadership and professional guidance to the team, driving performance and fostering a culture of highquality customer service, continuous improvement and professional practice. This includes ensuring compliance with the Libraries Act 1982, meeting legal deposit obligations, and maintaining strong, relevant reference and special collections that reflect organisational goals. Lead the assessment and negotiation of significant acquisitions, offering expert advice and building strong relationships with donors and stakeholders. Manage the collection development budget effectively, collaborate with partners to enhance systems and workflows, provide specialist collection advice, and deliver projects in line with departmental governance, procurement and risk frameworks.
