Senior Business Analyst
Department of Primary Industries and Regions
Job reference: 843369
Location: 5000 - ADELAIDE
Job status: Long Term Contract
Eligibility: Open to Everyone

Are you an experienced Business Analyst who thrives on solving complex problems, influencing stakeholders, and delivering meaningful change in Agile/hybrid environments? Join PIRSA’s ICT team and play a key role in shaping technology‑enabled solutions; helping set priorities, clarify outcomes, and support iterative delivery that benefits South Australia’s primary industries and regional communities.

At PIRSA, the work you do matters. From agriculture and food to fisheries, forestry and regions, our systems and services help power the state’s economy. As a Senior Business Analyst, you’ll sit at the heart of major initiatives, turning business needs into practical, high‑quality ICT solutions and supporting teams to deliver value in a structured, iterative way.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead stakeholder engagement to uncover, analyse and document complex business needs, desired outcomes and success measures
  • Translate business needs into fit‑for‑purpose deliverables, ranging from business cases and process maps to epics/user stories, functional requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Provide expert analysis, options and recommendations that support value‑based decision‑making, sequencing and prioritisation
  • Support ICT delivery from concept through to release, contributing to planning, dependency and risk management, and transparent progress reporting across delivery approaches (including Agile)
  • Facilitate workshops, backlog/requirements refinement, user acceptance testing and timely resolution of issues
  • Build trusted relationships across PIRSA, acting as a key liaison between business areas and ICT, ensuring priorities, scope and acceptance criteria are clearly understood
  • Support delivery governance to ensure outcomes meet agreed quality standards, manage change effectively, and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement

We’re seeking a confident, adaptable professional who brings:

  • Strong experience in business analysis within complex ICT or digital environments, ideally within Agile or hybrid delivery teams
  • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders, negotiate trade‑offs, and manage competing priorities with confidence
  • Sound understanding of contemporary analysis and delivery practices (e.g. Agile/Scrum, BPMN, Lean), including working with backlogs, user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Experience producing clear, actionable documentation and artefacts that enable delivery (e.g. process models, requirements, user stories, test/UAT material)
  • A collaborative mindset, strong facilitation and communication skills, and a solutions‑focused approach, comfortable working closely with delivery teams to clarify scope and support prioritisation
