The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.

The Opportunity

The Department is seeking a capable Administrative Officer to support the Transport Assessment Section through accurate administrative services and adherence to legislative requirements. You will process applications, maintain records, and prepare documentation for development assessments, land matters, road opening and closing proposals, legislative referrals and surplus property enquiries. You will also provide general administrative support across the Transport Strategy and Network Planning Directorate to improve operational efficiency.

About you 

You work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality administrative services. You show initiative, sound judgement, and strong organisational skills, effectively managing priorities and deadlines. You are proficient with software, databases and records management systems. You communicate clearly, handle sensitive matters with tact and confidentiality, and can work independently or in a team while applying policies and procedures to achieve outcomes.

Special Conditions

  • A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
  • Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
