ForestrySA is seeking a skilled Data and GIS Analyst to support strategic and operational outcomes through high-quality data analysis, reporting and spatial insights. This is an exciting opportunity to work across commercial forestry operations, contributing to planning, performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the Role

Reporting to the Commercial Systems Manager, you will play a key role in analysing and managing data across log sales, harvesting operations and land management activities.

You will transform complex datasets into meaningful insights and visualisations that support evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse harvesting and log sales data to support reconciliation and performance monitoring
• Maintain and manage resource planning, operational and land management datasets
• Ensure data quality through validation, documentation and governance practices
• Extract, prepare and model data using appropriate tools and methodologies
• Develop reports, dashboards and visualisations for a range of audiences
• Respond to business queries and provide insights to support decision-making
• Contribute to automated reporting and continuous improvement initiatives

What You’ll Bring

• Relevant qualifications or experience in data analytics, IT, GIS or similar
• Strong capability in data analysis, interpretation and problem-solving
• Experience working with complex datasets and delivering insights
• Proficiency in GIS (ESRI) and spatial data
• Skills in data tools and platforms (e.g. Excel, Power BI, programming, cloud systems)
• Ability to communicate effectively and build stakeholder relationships
• Well-developed organisation, planning and time management skills

This is a 2-year contract position with an annual base salary of $81,222 - $101,344, commensurate with relevant skills and experience.
