About the role
The Ward Clerk provides high-level administrative and reception
support to the ward, ensuring accurate and timely maintenance of
patient records and clerical documentation. The role supports
effective patient care by assisting with admissions, discharges,
and booking processes. It also contributes to efficient ward
operations by maintaining streamlined systems and workflows.
Key duties of the role
- Ensure day to day, high level administrative and reception
support services are provided to the Ward.
- Ensuring the maintenance of confidential patient Unit
Records by accurate filing of reports, results and tracking to
the appropriate departments
- Maintain adequate supply of office materials and equipment
by ordering items in line with purchasing procedures.
- Delivering services in a culturally sensitive manner
- Assist in the provision of quality improvement by taking a
leadership role in quality control reviews and improvement
programs
Skills and Experience
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Word,
Excel, and Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the
ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Good working knowledge of medical terminology and general
office procedures
- Ability to manage competing priorities independently while
maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
