About the Role:

The Engagement and Project Officer will have an initial focus on developing relationships with a wide range of wildlife and animal welfare stakeholders to build the foundations for successful engagement with the sector.
If you have skills in wildlife and captive animal management, thrive on building relationships, and can appreciate and manage varied viewpoints to develop a deep understanding of the sector, its opportunities and challenges, this is the role for you.

In this role you will be a key interface between the Department and key stakeholder groups and take a practical role in supporting clients to meet their requirements. Our stakeholders are from across South Australia so the role will require you to be able to travel and meet with people from all areas. You will contribute to the development, coordination, and implementation of wildlife and animal welfare projects and programs across the state and support broader policy and change initiatives across the wildlife sector.

You will bring a well-developed ability to engage and communicate professionally with stakeholders, using your strong emotional intelligence to remain calm under pressure and be open to listening to different perspectives and negotiating outcomes relating to sensitive animal welfare and wildlife management matters. The role will also provide you with the opportunity to contribute to the management of wildlife in emergencies. Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
  • You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.
  • Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check.
  • Will be required to undertake intrastate travel with some overnight absences and occasional work outside of normal hours. 

Remuneration: 
ASO5, $85,790 min - $95,413 max p.a.
