Job reference: 852871 Location: 5000 - ADELAIDE Job status: Long Term Contract Eligibility: Open to Everyone Classification: ASO6 About the Opportunity The primary purpose of the Principal Policy Officer is to provide high-level policy and legislative support on complex work health and safety and industrial relations matters. In this role, you will undertake complex policy analysis, research and legislative review, prepare high-quality Cabinet, Parliamentary and Ministerial briefings, and provide strategic advice on emerging policy issues. You will lead consultation with industry, government and community stakeholders, contribute to the development and reform of legislation and associated guidance materials, and manage complex projects that support SafeWork SA's strategic priorities. Working within the Strategic Policy and Legislative Services team, you will play a key role in shaping policy outcomes, supporting parliamentary and Cabinet processes, and ensuring legislation and policy frameworks remain contemporary, evidence-based and responsive to stakeholder needs. The role offers the opportunity to engage with senior executives, ministerial offices, employer and employee representatives, advisory committees and government agencies to influence policy development and drive positive workplace outcomes across South Australia. About the Business SafeWork SA is a business unit within Attorney-General’s
Department and is responsible for providing work, health and
safety, public safety, and state-based industrial relations
services across South Australia. As a regulator, our Investigators
and Inspectors ensure work, health and safety, and public safety
standards are met, and appropriate action is taken when breaches of
laws are detected. We also help people better understand their work
health and safety responsibilities.
