About the role
Provide technical and administrative support to the Gastroenterology Clinical Laboratory Service, including delivery of Breath Hydrogen testing, quality assurance activities and accurate reporting of diagnostic results. Contribute to high-quality clinical and research services within a collaborative and patient-focused laboratory environment.
Key duties of the role
- Deliver routine gastroenterology laboratory services, including Breath Hydrogen testing, specimen processing, data collection, result management and patient support.
- Support the day-to-day operation of the Gastroenterology Clinical Laboratory Service, including equipment maintenance, stock management and coordination of testing activities.
- Contribute to quality assurance, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high laboratory and accreditation standards.
- Assist with clinical research activities, including data collection, project support and participation in research-related meetings and presentations.
- Foster a positive team environment and contribute to the education and training of students and staff in laboratory procedures and gastroenterology testing methods.
Skills and Experience
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant technical discipline, with experience in medical laboratory environments and diagnostic testing procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to operate analytical laboratory equipment, collect patient samples and maintain high standards of accuracy and quality.
- Experience working with patients of all ages, with strong communication skills and a patient-centred approach.
- Proven organisational, problem-solving and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of laboratory practices, quality assurance programs, electronic medical records and workplace health and safety requirements.
