About the Opportunity

The Senior Manager, Witness Assistance Team is recognised as an authoritative specialist/expert in the field and is accountable to the Director of Public Prosecutions for:

  • the delivery of state-wide information and support services to victims and witnesses in matters dealt with by the ODPP, and their immediate family members.
  • leading complex multi-functional programs that deliver outcomes of critical strategic importance within/or across agencies.
  • the management of a team of staff, including the provision of strategic leadership, operational management and the promotion of a culture of team excellence, wellbeing and innovation;
  • taking responsibility for the oversight of professional victim and witness services within the team as well as the conduct of more complex and/or sensitive matters;
  • contributing to the fulfilment of the ODPP corporate obligations and to proactively participate in the business of the ODPP; and
  • promoting safe work practises, wellbeing and diversity within the workplace.

 

About the Business

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is an office of approximately 200 staff, comprising both legal and administrative functions. The ODPP was established through the Director of Public Prosecutions Act, 1991 to provide an effective, fair and independent criminal prosecution service for the people of South Australia. The Office is committed to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

  • Employment-related Screening Check required.
  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
  • Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
  • Will be exposed directly to confidential, sensitive, confronting and/or distressing material including direct contact with victims (including children), photographs, written descriptions and other evidentiary material.
