Who are we:

The Department for Housing and Urban Development (the Department) leads South Australia’s planning, housing and land functions to create liveable, sustainable communities and deliver quality homes and infrastructure for all South Australians.

The Office for Design and Architecture SA (ODASA) Directorate is an independent office within the department. ODASA promotes the value of good design, with the view that every new development has the potential to enhance quality of life, attract investment and reduce environmental impact.

The Role (12 months):

The Architectural Assistant supports ODASA projects and programs through the provision of architectural, design and administrative assistance.

Working within the Design Strategy and Governance team, you will:

  • Support the delivery of projects, programs and design review activities.
  • Assist with research, analysis and preparation of reports, correspondence and presentations.
  • Contribute to design tasks across architecture, landscape architecture and urban design.
  • Prepare graphic material.
  • Assist with project coordination, stakeholder liaison and administrative support.
  • Maintain records and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and standards.

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Masters of Architecture
  • Knowledge of the design and built environment industry.
  • Experience working within government, with a sound understanding of government processes and administrative frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and design software (e.g. SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD or similar).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines and work collaboratively.

Desirable:

  • Experience developing digital and print materials.
  • Exposure to project coordination, research or design support in a professional or academic setting.

Personal Attributes:

  • Proactive, organised and detail-oriented.
  • Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships.

Qualifications:

Masters of Architecture.

Special Conditions:

Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.

Remuneration:

PO1: $71,046 - $86,729 plus superannuation.
