About the role
The Nurse Practitioner, See & Treat, Paediatric Emergency Department, provides advanced clinical assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for children with urgent care needs. Working within the nurse-led See & Treat Service, the role delivers timely, high-quality care with a high level of clinical autonomy and decision-making.
Key duties of the role
- Contribute expert nursing assessment and advice to local clinical teams to achieve integrated nursing care within a risk management framework.
- Provide direct supervision to Nurse Practitioner Candidates while on shift. Provide Indirect support through education and mentorship.
- Provides professional leadership through advanced practice, education, research, and knowledge sharing.
- Leads and contributes to clinical research and evidence-based practice to improve service delivery, guide innovation, and support informed practice change.
- Contributes to and manages state-wide portfolios, projects, and programs supporting policy development, implementation, and evaluation.
Skills and Experience
- Registered Nurse with AHPRA and endorsement (or eligibility) as Nurse Practitioner with current practising certificate
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, including advanced practice in emergency or acute nursing
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Proven leadership, communication, change management, and research/quality improvement capability
- Sound knowledge of Nurse Practitioner scope, legislation, clinical standards, and healthcare quality systems
