We are searching for an Industry Operations Coordinator to join our dynamic team and make a positive impact on our students. The incumbent will work under limited direction to support students to access industry experiences and pathway opportunities offered by the Port Augusta Technical College in the steam of Civil Resources and Infrastructure. You will coordinate and run industry immersion programs, work experience placements and the Employability Skills Program.

Port Augusta Technical College, co-located with Port Augusta Secondary School, offers a part-time technical education model for secondary students across the region. The college sets new standards in skills-based training and learning environments. It features on-site accommodation and delivers four key industry programs in civil, resources and infrastructure; health and social support; hospitality and tourism; and multi-trades, supporting career pathways in areas like plumbing, building, electrical, and boilermaking.

What you will do:

  • Support students to access industry experiences and pathway opportunities offered by the Port Augusta Technical College.

  • Manage the scheduling, logistics, administration, and compliance for industry immersion programs, work experience placements, and student program entries, ensuring smooth operations and timely reporting.

  • Deliver and support the Employability Skills Program, coach students on workplace behaviours, employability skills, and pathway readiness, and address barriers in collaboration with wellbeing staff.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, industry partners, and training providers.

  • Oversee student placement processes, from assessing suitability and readiness to matching students with employers, resolving any issues, and ensuring safe and compliant workplace experiences.

What you will need:

  • Demonstrated high level communication and strong relationship-building skills with students, families, employers, and partners with the demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with local and regional employers.

  • Demonstrated high-level skills in organisation, administration, and scheduling, with the ability to exercise initiative, resolve problems, and make independent decisions to effectively support routines and expectations within a large and complex organisation.

  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring students.

  • Desired industry experience in either of the following industries: civil resources and infrastructure (preferred), cookery and tourism, health and social support, multi-trades.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of local and regional industries, and pathways into VET, apprenticeships, traineeships and university.

  • The successful incumbent will be employed as School Services Officer Level 5. To work in an ancillary or support role you must meet the minimum requirements for employment outlined here Ancillary or support staff employment requirements and registration.
