The Opportunity

The Principal Governance and Risk Officer is an exciting newly created position reporting to the General Counsel and is responsible for leading and maturing Legal Services' enterprise risk management framework including risk appetite alignment, risk assurance methodologies, controls assurance and risk maturity assessment. Operating under broad direction, the role will ensure the organisation is equipped with the culture, strategies, systems and processes to comprehensively address current and emerging risks.

Through effective partnership with the business, the Principal Governance and Risk Officer will build and sustain the organisation's ability to deliver its statutory obligations with integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Salary Range

$125,649 - $130,392 per annum pro rata plus 12% superannuation and leave loading.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses.

Term of Employment

Ongoing contract available at the ASO8 classification level.

What You Need for Success

The ideal candidate will:
  • Have extensive experience in corporate governance, including risk management, policy development, control mechanisms and compliance management within the government context of accountability, transparency and integrity
  • Provide expert professional and technical advice on governance, risk, policy and compliance to support decision making
  • Be able to influence executives and stakeholders in relation to governance, accountability, risk management and organisational improvement initiatives
