The Opportunity

Join SARDI and play a vital role in delivering trusted seed testing services for domestic and international markets.

The Seed Testing Laboratory is a critical service providing high-value testing locally, interstate, and globally. As an ISTA-accredited facility, it meets exacting technical standards and enables official documentation required for international seed trade.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Seed Analyst, you will contribute to high-quality laboratory services that enable clients to successfully market their products, supporting an essential part of the food supply chain.

You will:

  • Conduct seed testing including physical quality, purity, germination, and identification
  • Assist with seed-related technical training
  • Process laboratory samples and deliver accurate, timely results
  • Maintain laboratory databases and testing records

About You

You are detail-focused, technically capable and thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

You will bring:

  • A technical qualification (TGO-01 level or higher – essential)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage workloads during peak periods
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Experience with ISTA or similar standards (desirable)

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • Full Time opportunity up to July 2028

Requirements

  • Possession of a current driver’s licence and a willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work may be required, with some overtime required including weekends from January to July and at other heavy workload periods.
  • The position is based at the Plant Research Centre, Urrbrae, but may be required to move elsewhere in the Adelaide Metropolitan area.
  • The incumbent will be required to participate in the internal and external training programs
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations

Remuneration

TGO1 - $68,481 min - $74,032 max per annum, plus superannuation
