About the Opportunity

The primary purpose of the Delegate Guardianship Services is to act as a delegated guardian for protected people under the principles of the Guardian and Administration Act 1993 (the Act). Supported by senior staff, the role applies significant levels of initiative and judgement to ensure that decision making supports the genuine wishes, and proper care and protection, of protected persons under guardianship. These actions and decisions are to be in accordance with the Section 5 Principles of the Act.

 

About the Business

The Office of the Public Advocate is an independent statutory Office of the South Australian Government. This office exists to promote the rights and interests of people who may need assistance with decision making. The Office of the Public Advocate promotes rights through delivering our services. Services include giving advice, finding alternatives to guardianship, advocacy, investigations, and acting as guardian of last resort.  The Office is guided by the principles and requirements of the key legislation and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
  • Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
  • Tertiary qualification in within the allied health practitioner stream.
