As per the SMOEA 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years.  Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation Advanced Trainee Endocrinology will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements.  This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

About the role

The Advanced Trainee in Paediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology contributes to the provision of inpatient and outpatient clinical services within WCHN under Consultant supervision. The role includes endocrine and diabetes outpatient clinics, inpatient ward care and participation in the after-hours on-call roster. The position also supports teaching, supervision, research and quality improvement activities as part of the RACP Endocrinology training program.

Key duties of the role

• Provide inpatient and outpatient care for paediatric diabetes and endocrinology patients under Consultant supervision.
• Participate in endocrine and diabetes clinics, ward service duties and after-hours on-call responsibilities.
• Assess and manage acute paediatric presentations, investigations and routine procedures appropriate to level of training.
• Support teaching, supervision and training of junior medical officers and medical students.
• Contribute to research, clinical audit, quality improvement and departmental education activities.

Skills and Experience

• Medical degree (BMBS or equivalent) with General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Completion of RACP Basic Paediatric Training and recognised Advanced Trainee status.
• Sound clinical skills in paediatrics appropriate to level of training.
• Strong communication, teamwork and clinical decision-making skills in multidisciplinary settings.
• Ability to manage competing clinical demands while maintaining patient-centred care and professional standards.
