Emergency Department Registrar - Advance Your Career Through ACEM Training We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Emergency Department registrars to join our team and continue their training within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN). Do you want to be able to access all your training requirements in one health network? Then SALHN is the answer! Southern Adelaide Local Health Network covers the diverse population living in the southern metropolitan area of Adelaide and comprises of Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga hospitals. Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) is a major referral hospital and level 1 trauma centre. It is accredited for both Emergency Medicine and Paediatric Emergency Medicine training by ACEM. The hospital is also the state's dedicated obstetric trauma centre. Our Emergency Department offers the true 'cradle to grave experience' and is the perfect place to allow for a well-rounded and well supported training experience. The ACEM-accredited Paediatric Emergency Department is co-located within the main ED and is highly regarded across the state for its excellent teaching and clinical supervision provided by some of the state's best Paediatric Emergency Physicians. ACEM trainees can fulfill paediatric requirements with 3- or 6-month rotations to the PED and gain exposure to sick children throughout their general ED time. Education and training are a key focus in our Emergency Department. We have developed EM and PEM teaching programs which are held every second Thursday, that build upon clinical learning. Simulation-based learning is strongly emphasised, and we have a dedicated ED sonographer to assist with ultrasound skills development. To prepare our trainees for their future as FACEMs, we prioritise their development as leaders and decision-makers. This is facilitated by a supportive and collegiate environment, flexible rostering, access to a formal mentoring program and well-being initiatives such as Schwartz rounds. All trainees are entitled to a PD allowance of up to $10,000. As a result of these efforts, we have achieved high success rates in recent ACEM fellowship examinations. We have a long-standing relationship with other departments allowing for opportunities to rotate through anaesthetics and ICU to fulfill ACEM training requirements. Trainees are also encouraged to use these links to access trauma, paediatric, neonatology and statewide retrieval service rotations. Noarlunga Hospital is an outer metropolitan ED and allows trainees to complete their Non-Major Referral training requirements. With a diverse staff mix and welcoming supportive team, you'll be welcomed into the fold quickly and supported whether you move from the other side of the city or the other side of the world. Flexible rostering is possible, including paired rosters (if moving with a friend or partner), opposing rosters (e.g. for families to allow care for children) or grouped shifts to allow a longer block of days off in a row so you make the most of your downtime. What else is on offer? Pay and conditions are in line with the current SA Medical Officers Enterprise Bargaining Agreement. The full contract offered to successful candidates will be of 3 years' duration, giving the trainee flexibility to continue beyond their training in our mixed adult/paediatric ED and related training rotations elsewhere in SALHN should this suit their training plans.
