WHAT ARE WE OFFERING? 

Join the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network (BHFLHN) as a Postgraduate Doctor (PGY2+) in a supportive regional training environment, with opportunities to develop core clinical skills and progress toward your chosen specialty pathway. Based across sites including Mount Barker, Gawler and Victor Harbor, you will gain broad exposure to general medicine and acute care within a diverse regional patient population. 

As a PGY doctor at BHFLHN, you will be supported by experienced senior clinicians who are committed to teaching, supervision and mentorship. You will work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team alongside nursing and allied health staff, with opportunities to participate in education sessions, quality improvement activities, audits and research, aligned with SA Health and college‑relevant standards. 

This program offers an excellent foundation for doctors intending to pursue physician training, general practice, rural generalist pathways or other specialty training, providing meaningful clinical experience in a welcoming regional setting with strong professional support.

  • Are you a reliable and motivated postgraduate doctor who can manage allocated patients with appropriate senior supervision, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team. 
  • Are you able and willing to participate in a 24/7 roster, demonstrating flexibility, professionalism and commitment to patient care. 

  • Are you Someone with a strong interest in continuing education and professional development, actively engaging in teaching sessions, training opportunities and self‑directed learning.  

  • Are you an individual who values quality improvement, working closely with medical, nursing and allied health staff to enhance clinical outcomes and service delivery.  

  • Are you drawn to working in a dynamic regional health setting, demonstrating adaptability, accountability and strong professional standards.

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE? 

You will………. 

  • Deliver safe, high‑quality patient care by conducting thorough assessments, formulating working diagnoses, documenting accurately, seeking senior input when required, and ensuring effective clinical handover, discharge planning and continuity of care.  
  • Support clinical excellence, safety and quality by adhering to BHFLHN and SA Health policies, promoting safe prescribing, managing deteriorating patients, participating in incident reporting, complaints management and continuous quality improvement activities.  
  • Contribute to a positive learning and professional environment through active participation in education, training, teaching programs, performance reviews and feedback processes, while acting as a professional role model for junior medical staff.  
  • Strengthen service delivery and organisational outcomes by engaging in accreditation activities, clinical review programs, risk management, system improvement initiatives and collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork that places patients and consumers at the centre of care.
