Remuneration: SS/SM2 ($148,683) plus 12% superannuation

Use your influence to shape decisions that guide how the Department for Child Protection delivers services and allocates resources.

As the Assistant Director, Financial Reform and Strategic Programs, you will lead major reform initiatives within the Department for Child Protection, contributing to the Budget Performance Improvement Program and broader whole-of-government priorities.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering strategic transformation across financial systems, commercial strategy and organisational performance. Working in a complex and evolving environment, you will identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen governance and deliver sustainable outcomes aligned to government priorities.

This role requires a strategic and influential leader who can navigate complexity, build strong partnerships and translate emerging challenges into practical solutions. You will work closely with senior executives, central agencies and key stakeholders to align priorities and support effective delivery of departmental initiatives.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience leading significant reform, transformation or financial management programs in complex organisational environments
  • Proven ability to influence executive decision-making and provide trusted strategic advice, supported by high-quality reports and briefings
  • Strong leadership in delivering organisational change, business improvement and governance outcomes
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering practical solutions to challenging problems
  • Experience building strategic partnerships and influencing cross-sector outcomes.
