Organisational Development and Learning

Our Organisational Development and Learning team provides expertise in learning, development and recruitment to strengthen our workforce, uplift organisational capability and improve the employee experience. They collaborate with business areas to ensure initiatives align with departmental priorities, are backed by data and support staff to deliver services to the South Australian community.

About the role

This is a senior Organisational Development role working closely with senior leaders to shape how DHS builds leadership capability, strengthens workforce performance, and develops its future talent pipeline.

The role works across a mix of established priorities, with scope to improve and evolve how work is delivered over time. It is suited to someone ready to take on broader, organisation-wide work and play a key role in shaping how organisational development is delivered.

You will lead department-wide organisational development initiatives, provide trusted, high-level advice to senior stakeholders, and manage a small team of OD practitioners.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design, delivery and evaluation of strategies and programs across leadership development, performance development, and talent and succession planning
  • Provide clear, practical organisational development advice and coaching to executives and senior leaders to improve capability and performance
  • Use workforce data, employee feedback and insights to inform evidence-based decision making and solutions
  • Design and facilitate workshops, focus groups and consultation activities to understand business needs and co-design practical solutions
  • Provide strategic oversight of graduate and early career programs
  • Establish and embed measures, systems and evaluation approaches to track impact
  • Provide line management and professional leadership to OD practitioner team

What you'll bring

You are an experienced OD practitioner who can operate confidently at a senior level and is keen to take on broader, organisation-wide work.

You will demonstrate:

  • Experience leading organisational development or workforce capability initiatives, with the ability to apply this across different focus areas
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes and see initiatives through to implementation in complex environments
  • Ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders and executives
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to turn insights into fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Experience in facilitation, consultation and program design
  • Sound knowledge of organisational development, culture and change practices
  • Ability to prioritise and exercise sound judgement when managing competing demands
  • A collaborative approach and ability to contribute to a team-based way of working

Desirable:

Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. OD, Psychology, HR)
