The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.

The Opportunity

The Senior Project Manager delivers complex building projects across government, providing expert advice and leadership to support agency outcomes. The role manages risk, cost, time and quality to achieve successful project delivery aligned to government priorities. Responsibilities include construction and planning guidance, integrated risk management, procurement and contract documentation, and oversight of scheduling, reporting and financial management.

About you 

You demonstrate proven capability to plan and deliver complex programs under broad direction, with clear, concise communication skills. You possess broad discipline knowledge, including risk, commercial and strategic considerations, and provide timely, impartial advice. You analyse complex issues, develop practical solutions, engage stakeholders effectively, and lead, motivate and influence teams to achieve high‑quality, customer‑focused outcomes.

Educational Qualifications / Licences 

  • Technical or construction related qualification is not essential but preferred; however, proven project management experience in construction industry projects is essential.

Special Conditions

  • A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years
  • A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, which must be renewed every five years before expiry.
  • Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Tenure of Vacancy

Temporary Appointment up to two (2) years

Remuneration

ASO7 - $112,163 to $121,246 pa + superannuation
