About Us

Picture a career that’s more than numbers. At the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), we’re building a world‑class Treasury for South Australia—one that’s innovative, collaborative, and future‑focused.

We’re South Australia’s lead agency for economic, digital, and financial policy outcomes. Our work touches every corner of the state, from enabling frontline services to driving digital transformation. And we do it all with one purpose: to make life better for the people who call South Australia home.

Why This Role Matters

The Government’s primary financial management system Masterpiece, used by most SA Government agencies excluding SA Health, is over 30 years old and nearing the end of its service life. The Finance Reform Program is leading a major initiative to replace it with Oracle Fusion and implement best practice processes. This transformation will significantly change how finance functions are performed across agencies and affect a wide range of stakeholders, including finance, ICT, and operations teams.

As a Projects SME, you’ll help deliver consistent, best‑practice finance processes and supporting widespread adoption, the Projects SME enables better decision‑making, efficiency and outcomes across government — with lasting impact for South Australians.

About the Opportunity

You’ll contribute to South Australia’s most significant finance transformation, modernising government systems and enabling better financial outcomes for agencies and the people of South Australia.

In this role, you will:

  • Help design and deliver a new financial solution, from business requirements to process design and defect resolution
  • Partner with agencies and internal stakeholders to implement leading financial practices
  • Lead complex project work, including process re‑engineering and standardisation
  • Provide expert project accounting advice to project teams and agencies
  • Develop and improve finance processes, policies and procedures
  • Work closely with vendors and technical teams to maximise system efficiency, automation and out‑of‑the‑box functionality

Remuneration

ASO7 ($112,163 – $121,246 p.a.) + 12% Superannuation

About You

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Bring strong knowledge of accounting policies, processes and requirements across SA Government
  • Enjoy analysing complex issues and turning insight into practical solutions
  • Communicate confidently, providing clear advice on complex finance matters
  • Build trusted, effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Have experience defining business requirements and translating them into system solutions
  • Apply a sound understanding of public sector frameworks and work confidently in complex, risk‑aware environments
  • Bring curiosity, resilience and a continuous improvement mindset
