paid internship honours the legacy of Denise Hatzi, a female civil
engineer who was part of many major infrastructure projects for
South Australia during her 23 years working with our
Department.
Denise was a trailblazer for women within our
Department and across the industry. She was a strong advocate for
equal outcomes for women, men and gender diverse people.

Who should apply?
We are looking for university students in their second, third or
last year of a four-year civil engineering degree who identify as a
woman, non-binary or gender diverse person.
The
Opportunity
Placements will occur between
September 2026 and February 2027 (or as negotiated).
Successful applicants will have the
opportunity to:
- Gain practical experience
that complements their academic qualifications and learning
through supporting various day to day activities related to
current infrastructure projects or works
- Be mentored by a female or
gender-diverse senior leader in the Department
- Utilise genuine flexible
working arrangements, that may support study
commitments
- Experience an inclusive
and diverse culture and contemporary workplace in the heart of
the city with all you need to be your best, including latest
technology, gym and state of the art end of trip
facilities
- Access to wellbeing
initiatives including our Workplace Mental Health Program and

- Priority consideration for
our Graduate Program. This is subject to successful completion
of this placement and their undergraduate degree.

To be eligible, you must:
- Be a women, non-binary or
gender-diverse person.
- Be currently studying in
your second or third year of a four-year degree in civil
engineering at Adelaide University or Flinders
University.
- Be available between
September 2026 and February 2027 (or as negotiated) to
undertake a paid work placement at the Department.
- Hold Australian
citizenship, permanent residency or a visa that allows you to
work in Australia.
- Provide a current
Australian National Police Check (or be willing to get one) and
be willing to undergo other required employment checks if
required.

ASO2 - $68,601 to $71,763 pa + 12% superannuation
