Role Details
From 2027, Adelaide will host the MotoGP Grand Prix of
Australia. The Event Director is accountable for the strategic
direction, curation and end-to-end delivery of the event together
with an associated program of events in South Australia. Operating
within a complex, high-risk and high-visibility environment, you
are responsible for translating contractual obligations and
strategic intent into disciplined, integrated delivery across
multiple government agencies, partners, suppliers and cross
functional teams across SAMSB. You will also ensure the event is
delivered to agreed scope, timelines, budget and quality standards,
in full compliance with international rights holder requirements,
regulatory frameworks and organisational governance, while driving
associated events and activations to maximise visitation, economic
impact and the State's global profile.
Key responsibilities are:
- Develop and implement the strategic direction for the
MotoGP event from 2027, ensuring alignment with SAMSB strategic
objectives and delivery of state-wide economic, tourism and
community outcomes.
- Lead the integrated planning and delivery of the MotoGP
event and associated program of events, ensuring delivery to
agreed scope, timelines, budget and contractual
obligations.
- Drive delivery outcomes across cross-functional SAMSB teams
through influence, coordination and clear accountability
frameworks within a matrixed operating environment.
- Establish and maintain robust project governance, including
critical path oversight, interdependency management, reporting
and escalation frameworks.
- Ensure full compliance with all contractual obligations,
including the MotoGP Promoters Manual and Series Regulations,
maintaining alignment with international governing bodies.
- Oversee procurement and contract management activities,
ensuring compliance with the SAMSB procurement framework and
effective performance of suppliers and delivery partners.
- Lead coordination of all operational aspects of the event,
including logistics, infrastructure, risk management and
emergency planning, ensuring a safe and compliant event.
- Lead engagement and consultation with key stakeholders,
including government agencies, industry partners and the
community, to support coordinated delivery and positive event
outcomes.
- Establish and oversee stakeholder engagement frameworks and
requirements within the event delivery plan, ensuring
coordinated alignment across government, industry and community
stakeholders through cross-functional teams.
- Drive the development and delivery of event activations and
associated events that enhance the visitor experience, increase
attendance and maximise economic and commercial outcomes.
Special Conditions
- The Incumbent will be required to participate in the
Agency's Performance Management Program.
- The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this
remuneration level or equivalent.
- Some work outside of normal hours will be required.
- This role requires a National Criminal History check.
