Leading one of Australia's most respected children's and women's health services demands strategic clarity, executive presence, and a genuine commitment to improving health outcomes for some of South Australia's most vulnerable patients. As Senior Director of the Office of the Chief Executive Officer at the Women's and Children's Health Network (WCHN), you will sit at the centre of organisational leadership — translating the CEO's vision into coordinated, high-impact action across the Network.

The Scope of This Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, this full-time long-term contract role provides executive-level support and strategic leadership to the Office of the CEO. You will be accountable for driving organisational priorities from the centre, ensuring governance structures are sound and that leadership decisions are well-informed and effectively implemented.

  • Lead and coordinate strategic planning, executive briefings, and high-priority projects across the WCHN Regional Office
  • Oversee the preparation and quality assurance of Board, ministerial, and executive-level communications and correspondence
  • Act as a trusted liaison between the CEO's office, clinical divisions, SA Health central agencies, and external stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational governance, risk oversight, and executive decision-support processes

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience operating at a senior executive or director level within a complex, large-scale health or public sector organisation
  • Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives and translate executive priorities into measurable organisational outcomes
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to synthesise complex information for ministerial and Board audiences
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability across clinical, corporate, and government environments
  • Familiarity with SA Health governance frameworks, accountability structures, or equivalent public health system experience
  • Sound judgement in navigating sensitive matters with discretion and integrity

Why the Women's and Children's Health Network

WCHN exists to deliver exceptional care to women, babies, children, and young people across South Australia — a mission that gives this role genuine meaning beyond the corporate functions it supports. As part of SA Health, you will have access to generous salary packaging arrangements, professional development support, and the stability of public sector employment. The Network is known for its collaborative culture and its commitment to embedding equity and inclusion into everything it does. This is a rare opportunity to influence how a purpose-driven organisation leads itself.
