Job reference: 843376 Location: 5000 - ADELAIDE Job status: Ongoing Eligibility: Open to Everyone An exceptional opportunity is available for a skilled and motivated legal professional to join the Parliament Research Library as a ASO5 Legal Research Officer at the Parliament of South Australia. This is a full‑time position, advertised on an ongoing basis, reporting to the Deputy Parliamentary Librarian. The role plays a critical part in supporting Members of Parliament by delivering high‑quality, impartial and confidential legal and general research in a trusted, non‑partisan parliamentary environment. About the RoleThe Legal Research Officer provides timely, accurate and confidential research services to Members of Parliament and their staff, supporting parliamentary business through clear written guidance, briefing notes and research reports. The role contributes to informed parliamentary debate and decision‑making while maintaining strict political neutrality and professional integrity. In addition to research and advisory services, the role contributes to the delivery of broader Library information services, including rostered reference desk duties, assisting users with Library resources, and providing training and ongoing support. The position also supports the maintenance and development of the Library’s legal collections and contributes to continuous improvement in research and information services. About YouYou are a legally qualified professional with strong analytical and research capability and highly developed written and interpersonal communication skills. You demonstrate sound judgement, discretion and the ability to work impartially within a confidential environment, often under changing priorities and time pressures. You will bring experience in a legal, research or information services setting, with proficiency in using legal databases, legislative material and parliamentary information sources. You are able to work both autonomously and collaboratively, engaging professionally with Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff while contributing positively to a small, high‑performing team. A law degree from a recognised tertiary institution is essential.
