Supervising fire crew,
active participation in bushfire suppression and prescribed
burning, programming and actioning preparedness works,
arranging vehicle maintenance and repairs, use and promote safe
work practices, use of DEW systems, experience in operation and
maintenance of plant and equipment, work as part of a regional
team.

Contract:
Contract for Ongoing
Essential Criteria (including
qualifications)
- Current Class “C” driver’s licence
and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4WD is
essential.
Special Conditions:
- Will be required to participate in firefighting operations
and must be physically fit and pass a fitness assessment to a
minimum standard of a ‘B’ rated Fire Fighting Classification as
per the DEW Fire Policy and Procedures.
- Will be required to participate in responses to state
emergencies or associated duties.
- Will be required to work outside of normal hours of duty
including weekends, public holidays and days of heightened fire
danger for duties associated with emergency response, on call
and standby arrangements.
- Will be required to undertake the role of Regional Fire
Duty Officer and participate in a roster for this role.
- Will be required to undertake intra or interstate travel
that may involve occasional overnight absences.
- Prior to being employed, the successful candidate will be
required to provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal
History Check (NCCHC), which is required to be renewed every
three years. DEW will cover the cost of renewal.
- Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or
provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows
you to work in Australia.
- Wearing a company uniform during working hours and/or when
representing the department is mandatory.
A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the
Department for Environment and Water will be required to have an
original photo identification document sighted and provide a
valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued
within the last 12 months.
Remuneration:
OPS3 $67,589 min - $72,033 max p.a.
