Remuneration: AHP1 ($71,217 - $86,938 per annum) / PO1 ($68,478 - $83,594 per annum) + 12% superannuation.

Our team in St Marys is currently seeking multiple Social Workers or Case Managers to provide effective case management services to support children, young people and their families. This role will enable you to assess the needs of children and their families to deliver focused intervention and promote positive outcomes.

As part of this dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the protection of children by assessing risks of abuse and reporting concerns promptly in line with departmental procedures.
  • Support parents in developing effective parenting skills and promote positive outcomes.
  • Learn about Aboriginal culture to better establish relationships and improve services.
  • Deliver inclusive services to Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
  • Enable and support children to participate in various programs and activities which encourage growth and development.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of children and young people particularly in regards to developmental stages, vulnerability and resilience.
  • Proficiency in managing workloads, organise and plan work activities taking into account the need to prioritise tasks and responsibilities.
  • Capacity to consider developmental, parental and environmental factors when assessing the needs of a child.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining strong working relationships within government, non-government and various communities.
  • Expertise in applying culturally sensitive child protection practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and CALD communities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • AHP (Allied Health Professional) positions are designed for applicants who hold a Social Work qualification and are eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • PO (Professional Officer) positions are open to applicants with qualifications in Community Services, Human Services, Social Sciences, Health, or other related fields.

AHP Position Benefits:

  • Salary: $71,217 - $86,938 + 12% superannuation.
  • Additional 4% for child protection social workers, permanently enshrined in the Enterprise Agreement (highest paying in SA Government).
  • $1,000 professional development allowance, increasing incrementally each year with a reimbursement of expenses up to $1,500 (AHP2 Level).
  • Qualifications Allowance available for eligible higher qualifications relevant to the role.

PO Position Benefits:

  • Salary: $68,478 - $83,594 + 12% superannuation.

Special Conditions:

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
