About the Opportunity

The Circuit team is responsible for the prosecution of all major indictable files arising from the Port Augusta and Mount Gambier circuit courts (both District and Supreme court files). This includes vulnerable witness files. Members of the Circuit team are required to travel to Port August or Mount Gambier, or other remote and regional areas to conduct meetings, proofings and court attendances.

The role of the Circuit Manager is to be accountable to the Director for:

  • the management of the Circuit team of professional staff, including leadership, management, professional development and wellbeing;
  • oversight of legal work within the Circuit team, and for the conduct of complex and/or sensitive matters in the Supreme Court, District Court and other courts;
  • contributing to the fulfilment of the ODPP corporate obligations and to proactively participate in the business of the ODPP; and
  • promoting safe work practises, wellbeing and diversity within the workplace.

 

About the Business

The ODPP is an office of approximately 200 staff, comprising both legal and administrative functions. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions was established through the Director of Public Prosecutions Act, 1991 to provide an effective, fair and independent criminal prosecution service for the people of South Australia. The Office is committed to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

  • Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
