About the role
The Renal Laboratory Technician delivers a broad range of diagnostic and technical services, including urine spun microscopy, bench assays, blood pressure monitoring studies, and patient and family education — all underpinned by a commitment to accurate and timely communication of results to medical personnel.
Key duties of the role
- Provision of high standard clinical laboratory services and encourage and foster a positive culture and safe work environment
- Contribute to training in renal laboratory methods for undergraduate and postgraduate medical, nursing and science students
- Participation in quality management and risk management activities and ongoing improvement of services
- Participate in meetings relating to research projects in which the Renal Laboratory is involved.
Skills and Experience
- A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant technical discipline.
- Experience in a medical technical laboratory, including quality assurance processes
- Ability to perform phase contrast microscopy and other renal laboratory diagnostic procedures
- Strong problem-solving, organisational skills, and ability to work independently and within a team
