About the Department for Correctional Services
The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Our vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and reducing re-offending. We work towards this through the contribution of staff who are employed in a wide variety of fields, from correctional officers and teachers, to social workers, psychologists and supervisors of court orders. Duties
The Peer Support Program has been established to strengthen staff wellbeing across the Department for Correctional Services through a confidential, accessible and proactive support system. It provides a structured approach to peer support that complements existing wellbeing initiatives, promotes early intervention and contributes to a safe and supportive workplace culture.

The Program Coordinator – Peer Support Program is responsible for the strategic coordination, governance and ongoing evaluation of the program, as well as leading its implementation and embedding across the Department. This role ensures the Peer Support Program operates safely, consistently and in alignment with departmental wellbeing, work health and safety and risk management frameworks.

Special Conditions

  • The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check;
  • A current South Australian Driver’s Licence is essential;
  • A flexible approach to working hours is required;
  • Some intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.

Requirements

Essential: Nil

Desirable:  

Appropriate tertiary qualification in human services, health promotion or wellbeing, community services or related field.

Qualifications or training in peer support, coaching or mentoring, program management, project management or organisational wellbeing programs.

Remuneration
ASO6 ($102,171 - $108,071 pa)
