The Opportunity

New opportunities have arisen in our Family Law Division!

As the Senior Lawyer, Family Law, you will represent clients who are in receipt of legal aid and delivers quality legal services in relation to complex family law. You will have the opportunity to act as children's representative in child protection proceedings including appearing as an advocate in the Adelaide Youth Court. You will have opportunity to learn Child Support and represent clients in receipt of legal aid in relation to Child Support.

The Senior Lawyer will appear as a representative in family dispute resolution matters which also includes property matters. If accredited, the Senior Lawer will act as Independent Children's Lawyer in Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia parenting matters.

Salary Range

$115,959 - $126,492 per annum pro rata plus 12% superannuation and leave loading.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses.

Term of Employment

12 month temporary contract available at the LSC3 classification level.

What You Need for Success

The ideal candidate will:
  • Hold an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate or currently eligible to apply for an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate.
  • Be an admitted practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia and High Court of Australia.
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years' post-admission experience.
  • Private or public legal practice file management, time recording, and costing of files.
  • Deliver high quality, concise advice by assessing problems logically, thoroughly and reliably with due skill and diligence.
  • Communicate effectively with persons from a wide range of backgrounds including understanding, and responding appropriately to cultural, ethnic and indigenous differences and to persons with a physical or mental illness.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of family law, care and protection law, practice rules, and the law of evidence as it is applied in the state courts of South Australia and in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
