Safer Family Services

Our Safer Family Services team delivers a range of services, including intensive family support and multi-agency responses, to help children stay safely at home with their families and avoid the need for out-of-home care. They also help families with parenting support, workshops and connection to community events and initiatives to improve child safety and wellbeing.

Role Details

Safer Family Services (SFS) is looking for staff within multiple teams across Outer North and Inner North Regions. SFS Intensive Family Services (IFS) provides direct services to families through the antenatal period, for infants, children, and young people up to 18 years of age who are presenting with high level risks and complexities. SFS work in collaboration with both government and non-government organisations to improve the safety, emotional health and wellbeing of infants, children, and young people in South Australia. SFS are seeking AHP2/PO2 Practitioners to join our teams. Recommended applicants may be offered temporary employment.

About The Role
The role is responsible for providing high level intervention and support to vulnerable families and children including those from culturally diverse backgrounds who are at high risk of entering the child protection system, undertaking comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify complexity, needs and risks for vulnerable children and families. Developing strategies to assertively engage and provide intensive case work to address the needs, risks and complexities for children and families, building strong relationships with key stakeholders to create collaborative service opportunities for children and families in crisis or at risk of entering the child protection system.

About You
We are looking for a confident individual who can work with families experiencing vulnerability and low levels of safety using a case management approach. You will be able to make comprehensive assessments of risk and safety, plan and deliver purposeful intervention and identify and refer for appropriate additional supports to enable sustained intervention. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with families, multi-disciplinary teams, and peers. Must hold a current Australian issued driver's licence (equivalent to minimum class C).

Essential Qualifications
AHP2 - Incumbent should hold an appropriate Social Work qualification from a recognised tertiary institution giving eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers. Persons of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not hold the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department of Human Services.
PO2 - Incumbent should hold an appropriate tertiary qualification in community services, sociology, criminology, social sciences, human services, health or a related field.
